In honor of Coach Appreciation Day, we’re shining a spotlight on ten incredible coaches whose stories capture the heart of this work. Their dedication, creativity, and compassion inspire transformation — not just in classrooms, but across entire communities.

Coach Lorri Hope, CCA of Eastern Washington – Community Minded Enterprises
When it comes to dedication and leadership, Coach Lorri Hope sets the bar high. Based out of the Pasco office, Lorri goes above and beyond to support her team and the providers she serves. She exceeds goals, facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and BOCC trainings, and mentors new coaches with care and confidence.
“Lorri’s dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude make her an indispensable member of our team,” shared Blanca Garza. Lorri’s leadership and kindness remind us that teamwork and encouragement can spark lasting impact.
Coach Allison Southard Hood, CCA of King & Pierce Counties – BrightSpark
For Coach Allison Southard Hood, supporting others isn’t just her job—it’s her calling. Known for her warmth and encouragement, Allison’s providers often say, “We love Allison—she’s so supportive!” and “Allison helped us get a Level 5!”
“She goes above and beyond not only for our team, but especially for the childcare providers she works with,” said Valerie K. Willis.
Allison’s compassion and partnership continue to make early learning stronger across King and Pierce Counties, one relationship at a time.
Coach Carmen Gilmore, CCA of King & Pierce Counties – BrightSpark
Coach Carmen Gilmore leads with heart, equity, and purpose. Her advocacy for providers goes beyond coaching — from helping programs navigate challenges like SNAP benefit loss, to creating community resource lists that support teachers and families.
“Carmen truly embodies the mission and values of BrightSpark,” shared Caryn Nelson.
Through her leadership on SMARTIE goals, her deep knowledge of licensing, and her focus on equity, Carmen uplifts entire communities — reminding us that care and justice go hand in hand.
Coach Christine King – CCA of Southwest Washington – ESD 112
Known for her positivity and “can-do” attitude, Coach Christine King builds strong, trusting relationships with providers and families.
“Christine has put a tremendous amount of effort into building meaningful relationships,” shared Mandi Eves.
Providers praise her for jumping in to support classrooms and connecting families with resources. Her impact reaches far beyond coaching, she’s building a culture of care that supports everyone.
Coach Amanda Hadaller, CCA of Southwest Washington – ESD 112
Coach Amanda Hadaller is a leader in early learning innovation. As part of the Washington Pyramid Model Pilot, she’s brought social-emotional learning to life for countless programs.
“Amanda is our go-to when anyone needs anything Pyramid Model related,” said Mandi Eves.
Her energy, expertise, and creativity help teachers and providers build classrooms where children feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive.
Coach Shelly Knight, CCA of Olympic Peninsula – Child Care Action Council
Across the Olympic Peninsula, Coach Shelly Knight is known for her steady guidance and deep relationships with providers. She supports programs through transitions, celebrations, and new beginnings — always leading with care.
Shelly specializes in supporting Tribal programs, helping providers engage in the LOVIT program and organizing both regional and statewide Tribal PLCs.
“Shelly has created and maintained highly effective and mutually beneficial relationships,” shared Lee Ann Bryant.
Her ongoing book study of Bridges to Heal by Erin Jones brings educators together in reflection and growth — a true model of lifelong learning.
Coach Robyn Cook, CCA of Eastern Washington – Community Minded Enterprises
Coach Robyn Cook brings energy, professionalism, and heart to every provider she supports. Her ability to build strong, safe relationships helps educators feel encouraged and capable of growth.
Recently stepping into a new role as a Conscious Discipline Specialty Coach, Robyn has helped nearly all her sites adopt strategies that prioritize social-emotional development.
“Robyn’s generosity and openness to collaboration have made a positive impact on her team,” shared Harmony O’Dell.
Through her enthusiasm and care, Robyn shows that early learning thrives when emotional safety comes first.
Coach Joshua Morales, CCA of Northwest Washington – Opportunity Council
With eight years of service, Coach Joshua Morales has become a trusted bilingual leader across five counties in Northwest Washington. Whether coaching in English or Spanish, Joshua builds genuine, lasting relationships rooted in respect and care.
“When he talks about the providers he works with, you can see and hear his passion come through,” shared Ellie Brown.
Joshua’s calm, thoughtful approach helps providers reach their goals with confidence — creating stronger, more connected communities.
Coach Emily Long, CCA of Olympic Peninsula – Child Care Action Council
After nine years as an Early Achievers Coach, Emily Long continues to make a lasting impact across Olypen Washington. Her individualized approach and caring nature have helped countless providers strengthen their programs and relationships with families.
“Emily is a force of positivity and encouragement in our community,” said Heidi Scott.
Through her leadership and compassion, Emily reminds us that transformation begins with trust, connection, and the belief that every program can flourish.
Coach Diana Velichko, CCA of King & Pierce Counties – BrightSpark
For more than eight years, Coach Diana Velichko has been an anchor of creativity and inspiration in her region. As both an Anchor Coach and member of the Thrive Business Support Group, Diana empowers providers and fellow coaches alike.
She offers language support in Russian and Ukrainian, takes an anti-racist, culturally responsive approach to coaching, and has been especially impactful in her work with East African programs.
“Diana is our biggest cheerleader,” shared Sara Gebeyehu. “She motivates others to think creatively, meet goals, and bring joy to their work.”
From helping with classroom makeovers to marketing outreach, Diana’s dedication shows how coaching blends heart, culture, and innovation.
