FLIP-IT: Transforming Challenging Behavior in Young Children/ FLIP -IT Transformar el comportamiento desafiante en niños pequeños (English with Spanish Interpretation)
FLIP-IT: by Devereux Center for Resilient Children/FLIP-IT: Centro Devereux para Niños Resilientes ( English with Spanish Interpretation)
As teachers and caregivers, you may be seeking ways to support young children through complex emotions with healthy coping strategies. The FLIP IT strategy offers a simple, strength-based, four-step process for the daily challenges in the environment and those challenging moments with young children. During this training, you will learn the four steps of FLIP IT, which are designed to help children aged 3-8years learn about their feelings, gain self-control, and reduce challenging behaviors. The four steps are embodied in the FLIP mnemonic: F- Feelings, L-Limits, I- Inquiries, P- Prompts. This is not a new concept, but it can support a best practice that’s easy to remember, usable in a variety of settings, and portable, allowing it to accompany you anywhere. The purpose of this training is to build our understanding of the factors that contribute to children’s behaviors that challenge you, review evidence-based strategies for reducing instances of challenging behavior, and introduce a variety of learning tools to teach and support the FLIP IT way.
Certified FLIP IT trainer Lorri Hope teaches this virtual class.
