Coordinated Recruitment and Enrollment

The Family Access Initiative is a partnership between the Washington State Department of Children Youth & Families (DCYF), the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Child Care Aware of Washington, and state Education Service Districts (ESD) to develop a framework for a statewide Coordinated Recruitment and Enrollment (CRE) system. The CRE system will increase access to inclusive pre-kindergarten programming that meets identified needs and eligibility and ensures consistent and informed family choices.

With deep knowledge of the state’s early learning mixed delivery system and our existing system infrastructure, Child Care Aware of Washington is a critical partner in the work to increase kindergarten readiness. CRE contributes to CCA of WA’s mission of ensuring that every child in Washington state has access to high-quality child care and early learning programs. We are currently conducting community outreach (input sessions, discussions, surveys) to develop deeper insights into community needs and identify barriers to accessing early learning opportunities for 3-5-year-olds throughout the state.
