Holding Hope: Supporting Children’s Social-Emotional Development

Some children experience behavioral, social, or emotional difficulties, which can make it tough for them to thrive in a child care setting. Holding Hope is a unique program that partners Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants with child care providers and Early Achievers Coaches to promote the social emotional development and well-being of young children in child care.

Certified Mental Health Professionals

Holding Hope IECMH consultants are certified mental health professionals who can provide support such as:

  • Reflective consultation with teachers, administrators, staff, and families
  • Assisting providers and families in understanding and responding to children’s challenging behaviors
  • Classroom observation, both virtually and onsite as needed
  • Developing individual support plans and effective strategies for meeting children’s and families’ needs
  • Resources and referrals for children, families, and staff
  • Trainings for staff, administrators and coaches on topics such as Trauma-Informed Practice, Understanding and Managing Challenging Behavior, Expulsion Prevention, and more

How Does it Work?

  1. A Holding Hope Consultant will reach out to you to schedule a phone call or meeting to explain services and get to know your strengths and needs
  2. You can ask for support for a child, family, teacher or your program as a whole
  3. The Holding Hope Consultant meets with your site regularly (in person, remotely, or by phone) either weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed to support your goals
  4. The Holding Hope Consultant works with your team and your Early Achievers Coach to support your site with sustainable plans and then says goodbye once goals are achieved or you agree that we’re done for now
